Public Access Pools & Dining in Granada
⚠️ SEASONAL NOTE (May 2026): Most outdoor public pools in Granada officially open between late May and mid-June. Always call ahead to ensure the water is ready for visitors.
If you aren't staying at a hotel, you can still find "Day Pass" style access at several restaurant-pool complexes and suburban leisure centers. Here are the top public-access spots:
1. Restaurant & Pool Complexes
Restaurante El Guerra (Huétor Vega)
link
Local Favorite
A classic Granada institution. It’s a massive restaurant known for grilled meats and traditional tapas that features a large outdoor swimming pool open to the public for a daily fee.
- The Setup: You can pay for pool access in the morning and have a full lunch on their shaded terrace.
- Why it's great: It is very authentic and much cheaper than city-center hotel terraces.
Mesón J.R. (Vegas del Genil)
Spacious & Shady
Located in the "Vega" (the fertile plain surrounding the city), this complex is famous for its "Piscina de Verano" (Summer Pool).
- Facilities: Large grass lawns, child-friendly zones, and a dedicated bar/cafeteria service right by the water.
- Dining: The main restaurant serves hearty Andalusian portions.
2. Mountain & Rural Retreats
Camping Las Lomas (Güéjar Sierra)
Best Views
While technically a campsite, their restaurant and pool are often accessible to day visitors. It sits on a plateau overlooking the Canales Reservoir.
- Vibe: Fresh mountain air and incredible views of the Sierra Nevada.
- Travel Tip: This is a beautiful 25-minute ride on your rental motorbike from the city center.
3. Water Parks & Sport Centers
Aquatropic (Almuñécar)
Saltwater Park
Note: Opening for the 2026 season on June 12th. If your trip is late in May, double-check if they have "soft opening" days.
- Facilities: This is a full saltwater water park on the coast with multiple restaurants, bars, and chill-out zones.
Piscina Arabial (City Center)
Indoor / Year-Round
If you just want to swim and it’s a cooler May day, this municipal indoor pool is open to the public. While it lacks a "luxury bar" vibe, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants immediately outside its doors in the Ronda neighborhood.
Direct Fact Check: Please note that Aquaola (the water park in Cenes de la Vega) is permanently closed as of 2022. Many old travel guides still list it, so avoid driving there!
Enjoy your swim and your ride through Granada!
